Description

We are seeking a Substation Wiring Designer for our Newark, New Jersey office! This position will perform CAD, protection and control, and other project coordination and management functions, under the direct supervision of management. Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Performing complex CAD work 
    • Work with engineers and clients to resolve issues
    • Reading and understanding client standards and specifications, other project related documents, and meeting their requirements
    • Review and implement lessons learned from previous projects
    • Review own work before sending out
    • Create and verify Bill of Material
    • Transform BOM to the excel format at each submittal
    • Data and document entry into various platforms
    • Scanning, copying and filing documents
    • Reporting safety, health, and quality issues to management
    • Assist management as directed
    • Project scheduling
    • Perform tasks under the assigned hours
    • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Performing independent wiring design per engineering provided design schemes
    • Assigning cable types and sizing per client standards
    • Preforming routing per provided client layouts and sections
    • Self-reviewing design with point-to-point or equivalent verification
    • Create wiring diagrams from approved schematics
    • Create cable table
    • Route cables appropriately
    • Performing independent physical design per client design input
    • Designing conduit and raceways with input from client and wiring team
    • Coordinating physical design with structural and civil engineering teams
Education and Experience:
    • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience on technical, engineering projects 
    • 1 year of formal CAD training in AutoCad, REVIT, and/or MicroStation
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs and relevant project management software
    • Ability to work safely in a construction environment
    • Knowledge of multiple CAD systems 
    • Understanding of wiring diagrams and cable routing
    • Associates or equivalent degree in technology area
