POSITION DESCRIPTION
Natividad is seeking a temporary Physical Therapist Assistant in the Acute Rehabilitation Department to perform direct patient care treatment plans through various physical therapy modalities and procedures, as ordered by the patient's physician. Incumbents are responsible for clinical and non-clinical duties, as developed and directed by the Physical Therapist.
  Examples of Duties SIGNIFICANT DUTIES
  • Administers a program of corrective action using a variety of physical therapy modalities, including ultrasound, hot pack, cold pack, and electrical units.
  • Performs hydrotherapy, dressing changes, and wound care; applies orthotics, prosthetics, corsets, and elastic wraps.
  • Communicates with hospital staff and patient families regarding patient status, problems or treatment; provides patient and family education.
  • Conducts therapeutic exercises, including active/passive range of motion, developmental progression, and/or group activities.
  • Conducts functional activities, including rolling, scooting, sit to stand, mat mobility, and wheel chair transfers.
  • Documents patient information; assists with office clerical duties including scheduling, reports, statistics, and satisfaction surveys; maintains treatment and storage areas.
Examples of Experience/Education/Training MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
License/Certificates: Possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist Assistant issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Will have proven track record demonstrating his/her knowledge of:
Working knowledge of: 
Anatomy, biomechanics, electromagnetism, kinesiology, massage, mechanics and thermodynamics, physiology, and neuro-muscular functions and dysfunctions; proper use and care of orthopedic equipment and appliances; principles, techniques and modalities of physical therapy, and medical terminology appropriate to the practice of physical therapy.
Skill and ability to: 
Apply physical therapy techniques, modalities, and exercises; apply orthopedic equipment and appliances; communicate clearly and concisely; provide courteous customer services, and establish and maintain effective working relationships; perform assigned clerical duties; use and maintain office equipment and supplies effectively. Additional Information CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Natividad requires that all incumbents pass a pre-employment physical/medical assessment.
  • Natividad will conduct a thorough background and reference check process which includes a Department of Justice fingerprint check.
  • Employees who drive on County business to carry out job related duties must possess a valid CA Driver License for the class vehicle driven and clean driving record.
  • Employees must have and show their original Social Security Card and a valid CA Driver License or CA State ID prior to the first day of work.
  • Incumbents may be required to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays;
  • Incumbents may be required to work with potentially hazardous and infectious substances.

QUALIFICATIONS APPRAISAL: All licenses/certificates will be verified via primary source. Completed application materials will be competitively evaluated. QUALIFICATIONS ASSESSMENT: To further assess applicants' possession of required qualifications, this process may include an oral examination, pre-exam exercise, performance exam, or physical ability exam.
 
ELIGIBLE LIST: Applicants successful in the Qualifications Assessment process will be placed on an eligible list for possible final selection interview. This eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies.
