We're currently looking for a Sourcing Specialist, Nonwovens in our Orangeburg, NY location.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Procurement & Planning Director - Nonwovens, contribute to the development and implementation of - NP/PDI's Nonwoven Category Spend Management Strategy while managing all associated operational procurement activities and supporting the broader Nonwoven category as needed.  The position will serve to support the successful execution of NP/PDI's overall business strategy while meeting or exceeding the Procurement organizational performance goals related to Total Procured Value (TPV) including:  total cost of ownership, supply surety/risk, customer service, and networking capital.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Reporting to the Procurement & Planning Director - Nonwovens, contribute to the development and implementation of NP/PDI's Nonwovens Category Spend Management Strategy while managing all associated operational procurement activities and supporting the broader nonwoven category as needed.

Lead operational procurement activities to support NP/PDI business:

  • Assists in scouting for new suppliers in support of the business strategy
  • Support timely new product/vendor developments & launches
  • Work cross-functionally to deliver on RFQ/Procurement cost savings and risk mitigation projects
  • Support and/or lead vendor transitions
  • Continuously manage procurement elements of BPCS (ERP system)
  • Collaborate with S&OP to optimize balance among ordering efficiencies, material inventories, warehouse space, and surety
  • Collaborate with R&D and Regulatory to acquire proper material certifications as customers require
  • Act as lead Procurement point of contact and collaborate cross-functionally internally and externally to resolve quality issues, gain specification agreements, resolve CAPA's, etc

Supplier Development and Relationship Management:

  • Directly interfaces with current and potential suppliers to maximize ‘Total Procured Value' from the nonwoven supplier base
  • Scouts for new vendors in support of business strategy; support vendor qualifications
  • Establishes and maintain rapport with all levels of supplier personnel
  • Identifies opportunities and implements actions to achieve efficiencies and mitigate risk

Periodic reporting and tracking of Procurement metrics:

  • Manage and provide PPV analysis
  • Support COE analytics & reporting efforts regarding category relevant spend, feedstocks, and metrics

Category spend management – Nonwovens:

  • Contribute to development and implementation of nonwoven category plan and sourcing strategies; potentially lead management of small or non-strategic items
  • Handles requests for information, quotations, proposals, and bidding processes
  • Supports and/or participates in negotiating commercial terms, executing and managing supply contracts
  • Evaluates current and potential suppliers in coordination with Supplier Quality Team; maintain supplier scorecards
  • Supports continuous monitoring of relevant commodity market conditions, trends, and activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in Business, Supply Chain, or a related technical field

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operational procurement
  • Category spend management
  • Supply contract management
  • Procurement related financial & quantitative analysis
  • Supply risk mitigation & management

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:             

  • 2+ years of operational procurement experience
  • 2+ years of cross-functional procurement led/facilitated project management experience

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong working knowledge of operational procurement principles, theories, and processes; working knowledge of strategic procurement
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, often complex projects concurrently and deliver agreed-upon results in a timely fashion
  • Strong facilitation skills with a proven ability to influence and motivate others
  • Strong supplier development & relationship management skills
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Self-driven with an entrepreneurial & proactive approach and a passion for procurement
  • Proficiency in mid-size ERP system with BPCS as the preferred choice

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Predominately Orangeburg, NY office environment, occasional manufacturing plant, and R&D site visits. Up to 15% domestic and international travel required.
