NSC Technologies is currently hiring Quality Assurance Inspector 2 in San Diego, CA for HII NNS. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience.
Performs required inspections and nondestructive tests (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for Naval reactor plants and associated systems, in support of ship construction, overhaul, refueling and repair contracts. This job reports to a Supervisor, Inspection and works under general supervision. Work is performed within the confines of standardized Company and industry policies, practices and procedures. This job has decision-making responsibilities with regard to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed and the determination of measuring equipment used. The incumbent has the authority to halt work temporarily that would affect the reactor plant. Errors could be critical and adversely affect the Company?s competitive position in the nuclear field. Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical or structural components and assemblies related to reactor plant operators. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress. This job requires a high school graduate or the equivalent with 5 or more years related work experience. May require certification.

Security Clearance: Special Requirements: Location is in San Diego, California. North Island Naval Air Station. No Clearance is required but Confidential clearance is a plus. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Intimate knowledge of Coating Systems (non-critical/critical systems). Knowledge of NDT (+) standards and procedures. Qualifications in *CVN* PCMS is a plus (a different qualification than other ships). The job description mentions nuclear power, this position is for topside (non-engineering plant) work only. NNS is requiring all management with leased labor resources that may work from home or an alternate non-NNS work location in any capacity to fill out the Leased Labor Flexible Office Agreement Request form. This requirement is for management with both current and future leased labor resources. The request must go through the proper signature approvals before the employee is allowed to work at the Alternate Non-NNS work location. If a leased labor resource indicates a foreign national is present in the alternate non-NNS work location, O15 Security Compliance must evaluate the Flexible Office Agreement request and provide approval/denial. Based on OPNAVINST N9210.3 “Safeguarding of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPI)”, NNS is contractually mandated to protect NNPI from potential unauthorized disclosure. Access to NNPI are limited to U.S. Citizens with a need to know. This includes prohibiting access to Foreign Nationals. For the purposes of NNPI, a Foreign National is anyone who is not a U.S. Citizen.
