The Position: Benefits and Compensation Director: Manages and administrates the employee benefits and wellness programs for RHA and Affiliated Companies including health plans, voluntary benefits, retirement plans, and wellness programs.  Develops benefit structure and strategy to ensure benefit packages enable Company to attract and retain diverse talent.  Researches and brings an in-depth understanding of best practices and trends as they relate to benefits.  Implements effective communication strategies to drive employee awareness and understanding of benefit offerings.  Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations for assigned benefit plans.  Partners with Finance team to manage and evaluate benefits programs to optimize cost and performance.  Supervises Benefit and Wellness Administrator position(s).

Position Requirements:

  • Education- Four-year college degree in Human Resources or related area

  • Experience- 5 years Human Resources or related experience. Experience managing employee benefit and wellness programs, plan design, and broker management.

Full description:

Managing Benefits Programs- Manages the implementation and administration of all company benefit programs.  This includes ensuring accurate and timely insurance enrollments and communications. Directs the preparation and distribution of written, verbal, and online information to inform employees of benefits programs and ensure ERISA, Affordable Care Act, compliance through communications including Summary Plan Descriptions, annual notices, benefit statements, wellness communications, open enrollment communications, and benefits self-service products. Oversees and administers executive benefit plans including Executive short-term disability (STD) and long-term disability (LTD) plans. Assures filing and external audit of 5500's for all benefit programs. Coordinates testing of benefit programs annually. Assesses benefit plan design and makes recommendations for changes or modifications to existing benefit programs. Coordinates with insurance brokers, and company to implement changes. Notifies employees of changes in benefits programs.  Reviews all annual insurance contracts. Oversee and coordinate annual open enrollment process Serves as company expert on HIPPA as it relates to employee health. Manages relationship and performance of various benefits vendors to include: Insurance Brokers, health screeners, the benefits system, medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, banking, voluntary benefits, EAP, concierge benefits, and Cobra administration. Manages company Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Managing Wellness Programs- Manages the company wellness initiatives and communicates results. Leads and provides support to the units wellness committees in developing wellness initiatives. Identifies ways and implements opportunities to build RHA wellness culture which reaches employees, individuals we support and family members.  Directs the annual employee health screening process.  Creates and distributes Wellness communication pieces.  Creates unit specific programs or trainings based on health goals from wellness committees or from specific events. Develops and manages regular wellness challenges. Handles appeals for discounted medical premium program. Creates strategy for discounted medical premium.  Works on special company initiatives such as the development, assessment and implementation of wellness projects.

Managing Leave Programs Manages FMLA and Leave of Absence policies, procedures, and administration. Keep up to date on FMLA case law as it relates to RHA FMLA policy and administration. Ensures supervisors and those responsible for FMLA administration are properly trained.  Administers  FMLA for RHA Management Company.

Managing Retirement Savings Programs Serves as 401A Plan Administrator. Maintains rehire vesting and request distribution of balances under $1000 on a quarterly basis. Manages annual employer contributions and audits.

Manages Benefit Systems- Manages HR InTouch benefit administration and self-service system. Assigns all administrative and employee access users. Updates system with organization structure and benefit plan changes. Maintains and updates benefits system. Ensures all connections are operating correctly and update as needed.

Analyzing and Reporting Benefit and Wellness Metrics- Analyzes existing benefits programs and policies of the organization, and benchmarks practices with similar organizations, to establish competitive benefits programs. Evaluates new services, coverage, costs and options available through insurance and investment companies to determine programs best meeting needs of the organization. Provide quarterly, monthly, and as needed reports to determine utilizations, trends, and cost associated with benefit and wellness programs.

Supervising- Direct supervisory responsibility for one or more employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommendations for hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing performance; rewarding, motivating, and promoting team performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
