You will supervise the accounting staff and report any updates to the Controller in this Assistant Controller role. This full-time employment opportunity is based in the Houston, Texas area. Your responsibilities - Advanced preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits - Prepare a variety of technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures - Backfill for Controller if necessary - Accommodate the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting - Specify and generate process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency - Stimulate accountability and the meeting of deliverables - Alternative duties as requested - Facilitate the accounting team during the closing process to see to it that deadlines are met - Aid implementation and guarantee adherence to accounting policies and procedures - Contribute to ensure a competent, trained staff through development, goal setting, and regular assessment For additional details - please contact Kayla House at kayla.house@roberthalf.com or call 713-623-4700.

Requirements

- Non-profit fund accounting experience - Solid understanding of Annual Budget - General ledger experience - Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well - 5+ years of general ledger accounting experience - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IIA standards - Ability to multitask and attention to detail are critical - Certified Public Accounting license or exams in progress (preferred) - Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
