Robert Half Finance is seeking candidates who have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting and clerical department, for a Controller position at a reputable Construction/Contractor company. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidate must lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. Responsibilities - Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation - Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll - Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques - Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals - Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed - Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports - Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies - Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis - Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations - Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties - Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

Requirements

- Be detailed, flexible, and organized - Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued - Self-starter and strong ethical standards - Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred - Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations - Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines - Proficiency in Month-end Financial - Solid understanding of month end closings - Quality experience with Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation - Practical knowledge of Strategic Recommendations - Comprehension of Monthly Closings - Hands-on experience with Monthly Financial Reporting - Well-founded grasp of Monthly Accruals - Earlier work involving Monthly Bank Reconciliation - Well-founded grasp of Strategic Communication - Skills in Monthly Close Processes - General familiarity with strategic planning - Experience with Strategic Objectives - Foundational knowledge in Strategic Direction - Month-end Close Activities experience - Practical knowledge of Monthly Balance Sheet - Deep understanding of Strategic Decision - Proven knowledge of Monthly Account Reconciliation - Solid understanding of Financial Audits - Financial modeling experience required - Month-end Reports experience - Solid understanding of Financial Forecast - General familiarity with Monthly Actual - Previous experience working with Monthly Close - Wide ranging experience with Monthly Bank - Good understanding of Monthly Budget - Prior experience with financial analysis - Proven knowledge of Strategic Goals - Foundational knowledge in Month-end Journal Entries - Experience with Monthly Financial Close - Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred - Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills - Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity - Excellent communication and organizational skills - Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field Please contact your Robert Half Recruiting Manager if interested in the role and if you do not have one please contact me at nick.salvino@roberthalf.com
