The Corporate Payroll Manager will oversee payroll for a 3B company with approximately 7,000 employees. This position manages a corporate team of 17+ with 3 direct reports. All payroll is done in-house. They process payroll weekly for labor and bi weekly for salary. This position is responsible for managing the day to day functions of the Corporate payroll department, analyzing and solving a variety of complex and diverse problems/issues, and ensuring compliance with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Company policies and procedures. Ensure the timely preparation of domestic and international payrolls to ensure compliance with labor agreements, legal requirements and company policies and procedures Oversee the calculation of wages, overtime, and deductions to ensure compliance with federal and state laws Prepare and oversee payroll reporting to ensure accuracy. Manage the preparation and maintaining of disbursements, reports and statistics for government agencies and others to ensure accuracy of reporting. Leads and manages assigned payroll groups including, but not limited to; staffing, compensation, performance management, career development and customer service to ensure corporate initiatives are met Enforce established policies and procedures for the payroll function in order to maintain internal controls. Assists with process improvement which entails maximizing technological functionality and ensuring the payroll system is fully optimized to reduce/manage staffing levels and overtime requirements and remain cost effective Provide regular updates to Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) narratives as needed to ensure proper internal controls. Develop and control all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization's payroll processing objectives, including relationships with internal and external auditors and state and federal agencies to further promote/consultative opportunities.
Requirements Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent business-related bachelors degree with equivalent accounting course work required Must have experience working in a multi-state, multi-union environment Requires a strong understanding of prevailing wage requirements and a proven ability to manage a group of 17+. Certified Payroll detail oriented (CPP) certification a plus 8+ years of related payroll experience in a multi-state, multi-union environment 2+ years management experience Strong technical knowledge of commonly-used payroll concepts, practices, and procedures Strong knowledge of JD Edwards/Oracle e1, Excel and Word Full cycle payroll experience in a large, complex union and non-union organization Valid drivers license Occasional travel to field locations, some overnight, required
