Description

Located in the Monterey, California area, this long-term temporary position is an engaging, multi-faceted opportunity where hard work is rewarded. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a fair amount of time dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you'll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. What you get to do every day - Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management - Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner - Participate in various department-wide initiatives - Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules - Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation - Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP - Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll - Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process - Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed - Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision

Requirements

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics - High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills - Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills - Self-starter and strong ethical standards - Recent and relevant accounting experience - Spreadsheet and database capabilities - Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus - Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines - Skilled with ERP systems - Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills - Knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR) - Comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) - Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
