Description

The Glass Plant Foreman is responsible for assisting the manager with all aspects of the day to day operations of the glass plant to ensure production and quality standards are met. This position is a hands-on foreman with the ability to perform and oversee all glass plant related duties including maintenance. The Foreman is responsible to support the policies, goals, and objectives of the company while maintaining a safe work environment and OSHA. This position is exposed to excessive dust, unpleasant odors, sights and weather elements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform all duties and operate equipment in a safe manner and enforce and comply with all safety standards in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies. Ensure the plant is OSHA compliant at all times.

Maintain a safe working environment for employees, contractors and visitors to the plant site.

Perform safety observations to proactively prevent workplace injuries.

Operate all plant equipment safely and efficiently and train others on the safe operation of equipment both in the classroom and in the field.

Perform routine preventive maintenance and ensure timely and effective repairs.

Maintain compliance regarding dust levels.

Conduct safety checks on equipment.

Troubleshoot maintenance and quality issues through the use of computerized system and glass production equipment.

Monitor glass for signs of unacceptable material.

Perform quality testing on finished glass product to assure customer expectations and requirements are achieved.

Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the Glass Plant through inspections and preventative maintenance programs.

Achieve daily production requirements and accurately report these results.

Ensure all operating systems are operating normally and report any problems to Manager daily.

Improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and increase subordinates' skills and capabilities.

Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through professional interaction with internal and external customers.

Other Duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:

 

Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (physical exertions, including but not limited to: standing, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing). Also, ability to withstand “bumpy” ride on equipment.

Ability to work in plant conditions with exposure to glass and weather elements.  

 

 

 

Must regularly lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Previous experience operating equipment preferred. Must pass a written and operational test to be licensed to operate equipment.

Ability to differentiate between various colors of glass.

Must possess the ability to utilize a calculator to determine percentages and other mathematic equations.

Must have prior management experience with experience in performance management, training and development.

Demonstrated ability to perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs.

Must possess skill in utilizing equipment, tools, parts and procedures during the repair and servicing of equipment.

Ability to effectively communicate needed repairs and the ability to diagnose defects and make the repair.

Ability to work overtime, any shift, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.

Must have the ability to work effectively with computerized system. Computer proficiency in Windows applications, Microsoft applications; AS400, Lotus Notes, and productivity and/or inventory control systems, a plus.

Prior experience leading employees.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.

Safety conscious, use of good judgment.

Self-motivated with the ability to perform and/or oversee multiple tasks and processes with limited supervision.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead employees to build and maintain high levels of employee moral while promoting and providing a teamwork atmosphere.

Recycling industry experience, a plus.

Possess a professional demeanor and appearance.QUALIFICATIONS

 

Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Must possess valid driver's license and proof of insurability.

Good Driving record, able to meet Rumpke driving qualifications.

High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.

Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.

Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposure to extreme weather conditions possible.
