Primary duties of the Recruiter are to assess and screen applications, conduct phone screens, prepare interview packages, and present Hiring Managers with a qualified slate of applicants. The Recruiter ensures both candidates and Hiring Managers have positive recruiting experiences by keeping them informed throughout the process and answering their questions. It is imperative that this position act as a role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.


  • Full cycle recruiting - sourcing candidates, posting job ads, pre-screening candidates, scheduling in person interviews, matching candidates to jobs, submittals, and the onboarding process
  • Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives; meeting with Hiring Managers to discuss needs
  • Work with the Hiring Manager to complete a detailed job specification.
  • Develop the sourcing strategy for each role recruited and obtain agreement on the strategy with the Hiring Manager
  • Ensure all requisitions are fully specified and tracked through the correct authorization, sourcing channels and processes
  • Stay up-to-date on our industry, employment trends and hourly employee practices, to effectively anticipate and address changes that could impact applicant availability, sourcing and recruiting
  • Build a good understanding of the business and skills required by candidates to succeed within it
  • Build collaborative relationships with Hiring Managers and manage issues, escalating as required
  • Interpret resourcing plans, define role requirements and develop innovative sourcing options including networking, headhunting and building talent pools
  • Manage our presence on job boards, ensuring at all times we are getting value for money out of the agreements and our listings are positioned for maximum effectiveness
  • Continuously assess and improve time-to-fill, quality of hires, and Hiring Manager & candidate experience
  • Comply with applicable federal and state laws and company standards regarding recruiting practices


  • 5+ years recruiting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • Strong ability to screen applications
  • Proven interpersonal skills, specifically the ability to understand and connect with people
  • Ability and desire to work effectively with diverse groups of candidates and internal customers
  • Ability to effectively "sell" the culture and benefits of working for Rumpke, and promote the brand
  • Ability to effectively manage their tasks, including following up on outstanding action items
  • Exercises discretion when dealing with sensitive information regarding candidates and employees
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to independently travel up to 25%
