The Electrician shall be responsible for the inspection and testing of electrical lighting, signal communications and power circuits and equipment as well as examining and testing distribution panels, controls, circuit breakers and motors to locate faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections and worn out brushes. The Electrician should also be able to isolate defects in motors, switches, wiring and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as volt meters, testing lamps or instruments. The Electrician should also be able to repair electrical circuits and equipment, replace faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators and other elements of electrical systems, fixtures and appliances as well as rewire circuits either by isolating or cutting out defective wiring and replacing it with new wiring or by splicing. The Electrician shall perform preventative maintenance on selected equipment and assist the Lead Electrician/Project Coordinator in preparing requisitions for supplies and equipment needed in order to complete work orders, repairs or projects. When assigned to a project, he will follow the direction of the Project Coordinator focusing on safety, quality and productivity. The Electrician should be experienced in working with armored or protective cable as well as fiber optic cable. He may also be required to perform snow removal activities and all other duties as assigned.
Completion of high school or trade school. Minimum of 4 years experience in construction or commercial environment. Familiarity with NJ State electrical and safety codes as they apply to hospitals. Completion of electrician s apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training. Must be able to distinguish and identify colors. Able to read, write and speak English. Must have a valid NJ Electricians and Drivers License.
