The HVAC Mechanic reports directly to the Lead HVAC Mechanic. The HVAC Mechanic helps to maintain and repair exhaust fans, humidifiers, air conditioners, medical vacuum pumps, air dryers, refrigeration units (all), PTAC units, as well as other air handling units and diagnose and repair air conditioning troubles and complaints, adjust equipment as required to maintain proper distribution of air flow. The HVAC Mechanic uses proper test equipment to assure the proper operation of HVAC equipment and/or determine a reason for equipment failure. The HVAC Mechanic performs preventative maintenance services on specified heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment including water coolers and ice machines. The HVAC Mechanic participates in snow removal as needed and follows the direction of the Project Coordinator when assigned to projects focusing on safety, quality and productivity. The HVAC Mechanic shall return completed work orders to the department secretary when completed in a timely fashion. Must have knowledge of and adhere to written departmental and hospital policies and procedures and all other duties as assigned.
HVAC/R Trade school diploma and CFC Refrigerant certification required. Refrigerant R410A certification required. 1-3 years field experience preferred. Valid NJ Drivers License required.
