The Certified Medical Assistant for Employee Health and the Health Clinic is responsible for managing the patient visit within the hospital. Duties include greeting patients, co-workers, physicians and vendors, operating the telephone system to route incoming calls, place outgoing calls and refer inquiries. The CMA prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and /or accompanying them to the examining room and providing assistance. The CMA verifies patient information by interviewing patient, reviewing and/or recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming purpose of visit or treatment. The CMA assists physician during examinations, prepares laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests as directed by physician. Under the direction of the physician administers intradermal injections for Tb and Flu vaccine. The CMA provides medication and diet materials to clients. Other duties include working knowledge of computer software and business functions. The CMA maintains accurate records for both employee health and the Health Clinic while keeping medical record information confidential upholding the HIPAA requirements. Duties also include filing, assisting with patients and families, creating monthly reports and preparing notices for unit specific events (flu shorts, annual PPD, etc). Works under the immediate supervision of the Employee Health Medical Director. Other essential duties as required.
- Medical assistant certification
- High School diploma, some college preferred
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and Internet knowledge, familiarity with office equipment
- At least one year experience in medical related field.
