The Social Worker provides concrete, psychotherapeutic and educational support to Oncology and Hematology patients and their families in Cancer Services. Responsible for providing individuals, families, and groups with psychosocial support needed to cope with chronic, acute or terminal illnesses. Services include advising family care givers, providing patient education and counseling, and making referral for other services. The social worker also provide care and case management or interventions designated to promote health , prevent disease and address barriers to health care. The social worker will also facilitate support groups. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.
Masters degree in social work. Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred. Prior experience in Medical Social Work required. Oncology experience preferred.
