Team SAIC is looking for a Linux Helpdesk Lead who will assist the user community with the effective and efficient utilization of HPC assets located at Wright Patterson, AFB (Dayton, OH).
In support of the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Integrated Technical Services (HITS) task order contract, Team SAIC provides program management and technical support necessary to advance the services, capabilities, infrastructure, and technologies in the HPCMP, Department of Defense (DoD) Supercomputing Resource Centers (DSRC) supercomputing centers.
The successful candidate will work along the side of leading HPC staff and researchers working to solve DoD's most critical mission challenges.
The successful candidate will perform installation, testing and support for COTS, GOTS, and open source software on high performance computing platforms at AFRL DSRC.
The candidate will provide hands-on support to the user community regarding optimal use of DSRC infrastructure and assist users with adapting their codes to new HPC platforms.
This will include monitoring daily/ monthly/yearly trouble ticket trends by customer as well as, usage trends for assigned software applications to verify the investment in software is justified.
Daily tasks include:
- Serve as the Primary POC for trouble tickets of SHARC customer
- Installing and supporting user application software
- Providing customer support in the use of assigned software/usage of HPC systems
- Support user requests for new software
- Field requests and enter into tracking
- Investigate requests to determine if they will be granted or not.
- Help users to self-install if appropriate
- Support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL)
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
Clearance: Must have an Active Secret security clearance
Required Skills and Abilities:
Experience working knowledge of scientific programming applications in an HPC environment.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively interact with a highly skilled technical HPC support staff and users, internal staff, and management.
Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work in a dynamic work environment, and persistence to follow-through on tasks in the face of obstacles
Ability to work as part of a multi-faceted team, and leadership skills to guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel
Desired Skills and Abilities:
A good understanding of user account provisioning
Experience compiling, installing and maintaining COTS/GOTS, and open source software
Service desk experience
Ability to write and debug interpreted languages (Perl, Python)
Knowledge of scientific programming applications in an HPC environment.
Experience working in complex HPC cluster architectures and storage implementations.
Experience with HPC job scheduling concepts and applications, such as Altair (PBS Pro)
TIL Cert is a plus but not required
Must be able to obtain DoD 8570 Certification (CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA Linux+ certification or Linux SkillPort training equivalent)
