In this completely travel-based role, you will consult and provide direct services; namely the delivery of recreation programs. Your leadership abilities will be employed through on-site and virtual partnering, training, and expert guidance to other Recreation Directors in your assigned territory. On-site skilled nursing center assignments are required in the following scenarios: open recreation/guest services positions exist, during new employee orientation and for survey preparation. You will develop and maintain relationships with national and regional organizations/universities focused on recreation services. Rallying for recreation therapy engagement for residents/patients, their families, and the community in a consultative manner is a key focus area. Qualifications:
1. Bachelor degree or higher in therapeutic recreation, music therapy, expressive arts therapy, or occupational therapy preferred with either current certification or qualifications to become certified upon hire. 2. Certification following regulatory agencies governing the assigned area, by the National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (ADC) or the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (CTRS) or state-specific credentials. 3. Five (5) years of full-time experience in recreation services for elders. 4. If a current employee of Genesis Healthcare, approval by current supervisor and Regional Vice-President of Operations, and National Director of Recreation and Guest Services. 5. Knowledge and experience in providing recreation to individuals within special care units such a memory support, short-stay rehabilitation, ventilator, mental health and recovery, and substance use disorder recovery. 6. Individuals selected for this position must be knowledgeable in all aspects of developing and managing a quality recreation program that enhances the resident's quality of life and well-being. 7. The role requires superior clinical knowledge of recreation services, leadership abilities, and a deep understanding and support for Genesis Recreation Services policies, procedures, best practices, and federal/state regulations.
