The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with installation of resilient products including heat weld and flash cove of sheet goods into commercial environments as well as familiarity with LVP and LVT installation methods. This position involves technical support, problem solving, and advisory duties both internally and in the field.
The Field Service Technical Support Group's mission is to support the Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality efforts of the Company. The candidate will use advanced installation skills for commercial and residential flooring products to facilitate problem prevention and resolution both internally and in the field. A basic understanding of the sales, manufacturing and claims processes are essential.
Installation of all commercial and residential flooring products in a highly professional manner considering all applicable end use environments
Knowledgeable with all aspects of commercial or residential flooring products from both the product characteristics and installation requirements
Serve as an inspector for field situations, able to analyze problem situations; develop solutions; make recommendations for corrective action; and when required, demonstrate the solutions in front of the customer
Where possible, approach all field situations as training opportunities to not only resolve the situation at hand but to leave behind knowledgeable resources capable of resolving future issues
Familiarity with and able to discuss the most advanced installation techniques in detail, and defend those opinions both verbally and in writing in potentially difficult situations
Willingness to cross train to obtain product and installation knowledge of all flooring products in support of the total field services effort of Shaw Industries.
Preparation of inspection reports, product reviews, and other related documents; must be submitted/filed in a timely manner
Planning and supervising test installations; assist R & D and corporate quality in development of new products
Where possible identify and recommend local resources capable of assisting the field service effort
Must be able to make sound decisions based on customer, company and associate needs
Ability to develop and implement alternate solutions
High School diploma or GED
Must have a minimum of 5 years hard surface installation experience.
Extensive understanding of commercial and residential resilient installation processes, methods, tools and techniques
Carpet installation experience and/or professional certifications are a plus.
Must communicate clearly through both written and oral communications
Must have adequate public speaking and training skills and the ability to interact with a broad range of audiences to include customers, installers, sales personnel, general contractors, etc
Must possess leadership abilities, exemplify professionalism and maintain confidentiality of sensitive issues between departments and information considered proprietary
Must be self-motivated and have good organizational and time management skills
Must be adaptable and willing to accommodate sudden changes in schedule
Must be able to travel by car and air unassisted
Must be able to sit for long periods of time, and be able to work on floor
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and manipulate flooring materials
Must be able to work in a plant environment near automated equipment
Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds
