Summary

 

Position Summary

 

The Clinical Unit Educator (CUE) is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the educational needs and activities for the nursing units, clinical and non-clinical staff. Responsible for planning and providing orientation, training, and competency assessment for new associates. Responsible for assisting the management team in maintaining regulatory readiness for CMS. Responsible for ongoing competency assessments for all associates. Responsible for assisting nursing students with their clinical experience and meeting their clinical objectives. Participates in policy and procedure development and review. Serves on appointed hospital committees. Responsible for the maintenance and update of staff and patient educational materials. Must be able to provide patient care on the unit when the need arises. Administers and delivers medications and treatments as prescribed by an authorized licensed provider. Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental, and treatment needs of patients, families, and visitors ranging in age from early adult to late adult.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Education         

  • Baccalaureate of Science in nursing or related field

 

Experience        

  • Minimum of one (1) year nursing experience

 

License/Registration/Certifications        

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina

Core Job Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinates orientation and onboarding for all staff
  • Completes annual Educational Needs Assessment
  • Schedules all required training for clinical staff
  • Conducts continuing education and staff development
  • Collaborates with peers, colleagues, and other members of the healthcare team to develop an educational plan, assess performance, provide feedback and report outcomes to the Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Education, Nurse Managers and other appropriate personnel
  • Coordination of nursing students and shadowing experiences at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care (SHRC)
  • Serves on committees as needed
  • Administers annual competencies for all clinical staff
  • Maintains employee files and assists in ensuring department is in compliance with all regulatory bodies
  • Participates in quality initiatives to improve patient care
  • Other Duties as Assigned
