Job Description Summary

Analyzes and reviews fund expense accruals, disbursements, financial statements, and valuation methodology to ensure reasonableness and accordance with fund governing documents, and engages clients and auditors as necessary. Ensures accuracy and completeness of wire entry details. Reviews net asset value calculations subsequent to preparation by an authorized staff member. Manages client relationships and addresses complex accounting, special requests, and other fund related issues. Prepares and reviews financial statements and footnotes based on GAAP or other standards to ensure accuracy and completeness. Knowledgeable in the accounting and valuation for complex investments.

Role Overview

ALPS Alternative Investment Services is seeking a Supervisor for our Fund Accountant Team to join our rapidly growing fund administration practice. This practice group provides fund administration services, such as accounting and valuation services, to our alternative investment fund clients.

NOTE - this position can be located in Bellevue, Boston or Denver


  • Supervise a team of fund accountants in all aspects of fund administration
  • Coordinate, prepare, supervise and review the end-to-end process of fund accounting, including booking all fund transactions, position and cash reconciliations, month end valuations, corporate action processing, and production of monthly financial and investor statements
  • Financial statement preparation and review includes: the statement of assets and liabilities, schedule of net asset value per share, statement of operations, statement of changes in shareholders' equity, and the statement of cash flows
  • Deliver training on all aspects of fund accounting
  • Assist Fund Accountant Manager with administrative and operational duties such as staff supervision, recruitment, and all administrative related duties


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in accounting with knowledge of financial services
  • Previous experience in supervisory role, leadership skills a plus
  • Previous experience with a hedge funds or as an administrator or auditor to hedge funds or private equity, a plus
  • Understanding of securities and financial markets
  • Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, required
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg, and Advent Geneva or Advent Partner, a plus
  • Strong organizational, time management and analytical skill, with the ability to effectively summarize findings, both verbally and in writing
  • Attentive to details and both quick and accurate in handling them
  • A “Go Beyond” attitude and approach to dealing with clients
