Job Summary and Mission

Starbucks Licensed Stores is a strategic business unit that brings the Starbucks Experience to where our customers live, work, and play. We are focused on driving creative and profitable solutions for the company and our business partners.

The Business Development team works directly with strategic business partners to enhance the Starbucks brand. The team is known for thought leadership and cross-functional collaboration that address unique market opportunities. LS Business development partners (employees) operate as general managers and have ownership of account strategy, business development, negotiations, relationship management and program adoption.

This position will be focused on the healthcare and lodging industry. The ideal candidate will have a worked with or for the healthcare channel with a firm understanding of the industry, trends and process for capital spend.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership Leadership

  • Lead as centralized advocate for enterprise strategic relationships and expert within business partner and channel, driving transformative business solutions

  • Create and own executive-level relationships with decision makers in assigned business partner(s)

  • Build effective stories and proposals based on customer needs, business partner decision criteria and Starbucks enterprise priorities

  • Develop strategic joint business plans

  • Source and analyze insights and analytics to drive business decisions

Deal Making
  • Act as player/coach with multiple negotiations simultaneously

  • Generate, manage and execute complex partnership contracts and activities

  • Drive new store development, portfolio management, program adoption, and capital investments

  • Develop best practices to manage & close deals

  • Demonstrate strong executive presence and maturity

Cross Functional Collaboration & Program Management

  • Create and lead strategy, teams and work across marketing, category, finance, sales, store development, design, technology, and operations to analyze business performance, shape initiatives that can be implemented successfully across the system

  • Direct new program adoption and national account rollouts; aligning with enterprise

  • Collaborate and influence; modeling behavior to peers and team

  • Represent customer and company to key stakeholders

Partner Development and Team Building

  • Identify, recruit, and develop a high performing team and next generation of business development leaders

  • Develop and leverage a multi-functional team that prioritizes Starbucks resources to achieve optimal performance

  • Inspire partners (employees) to deliver and exceed business metrics by bringing their best everyday

  • Champion innovative ideas and solutions, shared learnings and continuous improvement within the team, organization and business partner



Job Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • 4-year Bachelor's degree

  • Direct B2B sales and strategic account management with key external partnerships at Fortune 500, healthcare, premium/luxury brands, and/or food & beverage companies

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree (preferred)

  • Direct B2B sales and strategic account management with key external partnerships at Fortune 500, healthcare, premium/luxury brands, and/or food & beverage companies (10+ years)

  • General management: application of multi-disciplinary business practices (e.g. marketing, strategy, finance, store development, operations) (10+ years)

  • Direct experience negotiating complex agreements and contracts with executives (5+ years)

  • Team leadership and people development (5+ years)

  • Franchise and/or licensing experience

  • National program management (3+ years)

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, problem solving capabilities

  • Extraordinary ability to build relationships cross functionally with both internal and external teams

  • Ability to adapt strategies and plans, and thrive in an ambiguous environment

  • Ability to influence leaders in significant investment decisions and change management

  • Expertise at simplifying complicated material to communicate in a concise and effective way
