Our experienced staff of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Specialists, Parent Partners and other therapists/counselors provide case management, mental health care and a range of support services in schools, homes or other community settings.  Our dedicated teams work collaboratively and in partnership with family members, school administrators and faculty, county social workers, case managers, probation officers and other agencies.


The LVN / LPT is responsible for all phases of medication administration.  The LVN / LPT participate in treatment team meetings, assist Youth Counselors with daily assignments and provide direct nursing care clients.



Education: Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing or psychiatric  technology required.

Associate's degree, preferred.



One (1) year experience with SED children or 40 hours on the job training.

One (1) year medication administration experience preferred.

Two (2) years experience with SED children if serving as facility manager.


License or Certification

Valid California LVN or LPT license.

Current CPR certification.

First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.


Job Duties:


  1. Work with physicians & social workers to secure informed consent for medication from parents, courts, conservators, etc. Take physician orders for medications, denial of rights, medical  procedures, lab work, x-rays, etc. and make sure each order is implemented.

  2. Visually and audibly observes adolescents physical and psychiatric conditions and reports changes to the Charge RN or the Psychiatrist or other Medical Doctor on call in the absence of the Charge RN or DON.

  3. Upon verification of informed consents and physician's orders, administer medications as prescribed.

  4. Order and assure on-going supply of individual medications for each child.

  5. Take vital signs as ordered.

  6. Audit Medical Records to make sure all orders have been implemented.

  7. Provide medication education and information on health practices to clients.

  8. Completes Nursing Assessments on New Clients or when clients require such assessments.

  9. Complete Transfer or Aftercare Instructions for clients being sent to acute care or
    discharged from facility.

  10. Provides other nursing duties including first aide and medical intervention within scope
    of licensure as necessary for each individual client.
