Our experienced staff of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Specialists, Parent Partners and other therapists/counselors provide case management, mental health care and a range of support services in our outpatient clinics and 24/7 treatment facilities, and in community settings such as schools and homes. Our dedicated teams work collaboratively and in partnership with family members, school administrators and faculty, county social workers, case managers, probation officers and other community-based agencies.


The LVN/LPT provides direct client care including medications, and supervises nursing activities performed by professional and para-professional nursing personnel on the unit.




Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing or psychiatric technology

Associate's degree, preferred.



One (1) year service experience treating the mentally ill in an inpatient setting.

One (1) year medication administration experience.


License or Certification

Valid California LVN or LPT license.

Current CPR certification.

Valid California Driver's License.


Other Qualification Required:

Ability to relate to clients in the age group(s) to be served by the position with emotional disturbances and their families.

Ability to perform clear and concise documentation.

Ability to adhere to all policies for confidentiality ethics and code of conduct.

Ability to receive training and gain and apply new skills and knowledge.


Physical Requirements

Ability to physically perform containment, escort, and restraint procedures with assaultive clients.

Ability to physically assist in lifting and carrying assaultive clients weighing up to 200 lbs.

Ability to visually and audibly assess client's behavior and needs.

Ability to stand for long periods of time preparing and administering medications.

Ability to walk and run. Ability to drive clients.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, up to 3 hrs. at a time.

Demonstrated use of ProACT.

Demonstrated use of Standard/Universal Precautions.

Demonstrated use of CPR and first aid training.




  1. Visually and audibly observes, documents in writing and reports orally or in writing the physical or mental condition to the Program Director in charge of the facility on the shift and the attending physician.

  2. Orders, prepares, administers and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physician's orders. 

  3. Confirms delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.

  4. Responsible for writing daily summary on clients as assigned.

  5. Attend and participate in morning rounds, change of shift meetings, and treatment team meetings as scheduled on the assignment sheet.

  6. Makes written or oral shift assignments and plans, organizes and directs the nursing activities of the unit, assuring quality care delivery.

  7. Provides other nursing duties including first aide and medical intervention within scope of licensure as necessary for each individual client.

  8. Assists in crisis intervention (including the use of ProACT) and provide support and assistance in problem resolution. Participates in ProACT Team assignments and activities.
