Strategic Systems Analysis Group (SSAG) provides multiple organizations within the Department of Defense with timely and objective assessments and recommendations that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis. We focus on key clients in the undersea community including Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), and NAVSEA program managers for the COLUMBIA Class SSBNs and in service submarines. We work to provide integrated solutions based on information and communications throughout the chain of command to ensure clear and consistent analysis and recommendations that are aligned to strategic and leadership goals while still being executable by the working level technical communities.


The Candidate will be expected to support the customer in a fast paced environment with simulation-driven assessments and products. The candidate will participate on multidisciplinary study teams and perform the following activities: study planning; simulation development, evaluation, verification, validation, and execution; data extraction and analysis. The candidate will develop scientific algorithms/models for simulations and data processing tools; and work with the multidisciplinary team to create integrated analysis reports and recommendations to clients.



  • Master's Degree in either physics or aerospace, aeronautical, mechanical or electrical engineering or applied mathematics.
  • 8-12 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • 8+ years of experience with physics-based modeling.
  • Strong experience (5+ years) in modeling and simulation with Python, MATLAB, R, Simulink, Java, or C++.
  • Knowledge/course work/experience in either spacecraft/aircraft or launch vehicle/missile inertial guidance, navigation and control (GNC) theory, optimal control in aerospace applications or analysis design and performance of reentry systems and atmospheric or space flight dynamics, sensor integration and filtering.
  • Knowledge and experience with state estimation and control algorithms, Batch and Sequential (Kalman) filtering as related to spacecraft or missile GNC applications.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute workload to meet requirements and deadlines.
  • Experience developing written and visual communications that are clear, concise, and suited to the audience.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment conducting analysis with uncertainties or incomplete data.
  • Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
  • Must be capable of breaking down complex issues into simplified problem statements and laying out objective approaches to identify and compare the merits of competing solutions.
  • Eligibility for a DoD Top Secret security clearance is required.


  • Ph.D. in either physics or aerospace, aeronautical, mechanical or electrical engineering or applied mathematics.
  • Knowledge of missile flight guidance theory (maneuvering reentry bodies and hypersonic flight vehicles).
  • Experience with currently available government sponsored or commercial 3DOF and 6DOF tools for either atmospheric or spaceflight analysis (TAOS, POST, OTIS).
  • Final SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance.
