DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to creating shippers per customer requirements, staging, inspecting and labeling of all customer shipments, daily data entry, inventory organization, and proper routing of incoming shipments and rejects. The Shipping and Receiving Specialist reports to the Customer Service Supervisor, and when not present, the Assembly & Finishing Supervisor. This position is responsible for contributing to a safe work place and minimizing negative environmental impacts by complying with the EHS policies, procedures, work instructions outlined in the EHSMS Training Assessment for this position.

  • Verifies method and mode of shipment for customer requirements. Prepares all documents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Upon transmission of an ASN, monitor, verify, resolve any issues, and print out the ASN documentation. Determine labeling requirements including but not limited to: assemble and pack product containers, prepare and affix bar code shipping labels to customer dunnage or stencils identifying shipping information for cartons, skids, or other shipping devices in an accurate manner including any special labels that are customer required.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Must complete daily receiving entries in computer system and distribute paperwork to accounting. Notification and/or delivery of incoming product to end user.
  • Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Receive and process all defective parts returned for replacement or credit. Must report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Verify all customer returns, accounting for all material, notify supervisor, MRR and move to the hold area. 
  • FIFO inventory organization, cycle counts, reporting monthly inventory counts.
  • Operation of equipment to safety and productivity requirements, including but not limited to: Lift truck or hand truck to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas and Operation of stretch wrap machine & bander.
  • Stage and load out hazardous material, receive incoming components, chemicals, customer empty dunnage, and all other materials.
  • Inspect, sort and clean customer empty dunnage and ensure proper corrugated packaging material is available and used for all pass through product shipments.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations for general housekeeping and organization of the shipping areas.
  • Use UPS/Fedex software for shipments and summary reporting on request.
  • Perform Purchase Order receipts for Puebla and Izmit produced parts for pass through receipts. (Hodge Only).


REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Availability to work any shift including days or nights (all shifts may require daily or weekend overtime).
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment hair follicle drug screen, physical, and background check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Must be able to become certified and maintain certification through an OSHA approved forklift, RCRA, Hazardous Waste and DOT certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, as well as customers and vendors.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, interpret, resolve problems and issues using a variety of instructions or guides furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Advanced computer knowledge (SAP, Novell network, Microsoft Windows/Office, Various freight software, Label matrix programs).
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pound trays and lift and carry up to 60 pound packages on occasion.
