Tetra Tech is seeking an entry-level environmental scientist to support their Louisville, KY office. Duties may include supporting field and office project work. For office support, the ability to summarize environmental data used in technical reports, as well as create and format accurate data tables and access databases is preferred. Regarding field work, supporting management of field supplies and equipment we use during environmental emergency responses and environmental investigations may also be expected. These kinds of field events typically involve sampling of and monitoring chemical and physical characteristics of soil, water, and air media. The position will therefore expose the intern to maintenance, calibration, and use of a large array of equipment and supplies typically applied to such investigations. This position involves various aspects of environmental and resources investigation, remediation, and management consulting for government and private sector clients.
Experience working in the field with technical instrumentation is desirable. Experience with technical report writing and formatting spreadsheets a plus. Experience with geographic information systems is desirable. 0 to 1 year of experience. The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills that include the ability to read and assimilate technical and scientific information; be very detailed oriented. Must be competent using MS Excel and MS Access; and be proactive and skilled in oral communication. Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and pass a motor vehicle records check. B.S. in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, Engineering, or other related environmental science degree. 40-hour OSHA training certification a plus. Frequent physical activity involving procuring, organizing, cleaning, inventorying, and operating field supplies and equipment, including lifting and carrying objects of up to 50 lbs. The position will include field and office work. Up to 50% travel may be required at times.
