We are currently seeking applications for an experienced Geographic Information System (GIS) Field Cultural Resources to support a variety of projects in a dynamic environmental consulting environment.
The successful candidate will function in a support role for our cultural resources team. While some of the work will be office-based, projects are located across the United States and often require travel to conduct field investigations.Responsibilities:
Responsibilities vary by project, but will include advanced spatial analysis, data management and research, and high-quality map production
Collect, download, correct, and export GPS data from various formats (Trimble, Garmin, Collector)
Prepare hard copy and electronic figures and field maps in ArcGIS
Identify published sources and download spatial data in support of cultural resources projects
Compile metadata documentation to FGDC and related standards
Candidate must be able to complete assignments quickly and accurately following detailed instructions, working independently and as part of a team
Candidate must be able to carry a 35-pound pack and walk 10 miles per day in various terrain and weather conditions
Applicants must be willing to work in sometimes difficult conditions and often miles from a vehicle
Physical challenges typically encountered may include long off-trail hikes, steep slopes, extreme hot and cold conditions and hazards (animals and plants)
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Anthropology, GIS, Environmental Science, or closely related field
1-2 years demonstrated work experience performing GIS related tasks
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS, Python, writing script, Trimble TerraSync, ArcPad/ArcGIS Online & Collector, and Microsoft Office software
Demonstrated past archaeology field experience is preferred
Flexibility and adaptability to meet fast-paced demands
High motivation and an ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good oral and written communication skills
Must be multi-task oriented and possess excellent problem-solving skills
