Project Summary: 

For the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists (PDP) is a project financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) with the objective of improving the institutional capacity of government and non-government actors involved in the protection of human rights defenders and journalists. This project will facilitate the creation of a safer civic space with freedom of expression and the guarantee of human rights. PDP will conduct activities with counterparts and allies at the federal and state levels.

Position Summary:

The Narrative Practices Facilitator will facilitate an accompaniment process for journalists using a narrative practice approach understood as a technique when accompanying those who have experienced trauma as they build new ways to continue their work. The Facilitator will offer accompaniment to strengthen the capacity to perform psychoemotional self-care and confrontation, in addition to the security of journalists. The Facilitator will provide group accompaniment to journalists of Mexico City on the topic of enforced displacement. The position will identify psychoemotional restraint needs, including on a personal basis.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement spaces for psychoemotional accompaniment for journalists.
  • Guarantee confidential restraint services for journalists upon request.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social sciences, or related fields required. Master's degree or specialization in psychology, psychotherapy, psychosocial accompaniment via the narrative practice approach or related areas preferred.
  • Minimum five years of experience in psychotherapeutic, psychoemotional and/or psychosocial accompaniment using the narrative practice approach for victims of human rights violations and/or journalists preferred.
  • Work experience with civil society actors and journalists desirable.
  • Spanish fluency required.
