Thermo Fisher Bioprocess Design Center is dedicating to provide a widerange of bioprocess related services. An upstream team is required to be constructed, with recognized capability to perform media optimization, cell-line development and upstream process development for Mab services. The candidate should be in an upstream team to complete the projects and to fulfill the requirements according to BDC's development.
The scientist will plan and carry out laboratory experiments and prepare documents as a project leader or project team member. He will work in a laboratory environment and should be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
As a project leader or project team member, designs experimental plans with guidance, executes experiments, takes experiment notes, analyzes data, generates laboratory protocols, and contributes to technical reports and summaries.
Maintains knowledge of principles and theories through familiarity with competing technologies and/or products and current scientific literature.
Help to establish upstream platform with capability to perform cell line development, media optimization and upstream process development for Mab, by setting-up qualified labs, validated instruments, efficient operation, and standard documents (SOPs, SMPs, records, etc.).
Prepare material and present internally and externally when appropriate, such as at project update meetings, customer visits, scientific conferences.
Investigates new methods and technologies, maintains accurate lab notebook to support IP protection in accordance with relevant Thermo Fisher required standards.
Collaborate with other BDC members to fulfill department management of BDC. Be obliged to perform personal training, weekly update, PMD and 6S.
Support local commercial events (i.e. customer visit, training, seminar, show site operation, etc.), provide technical support to bring business benefit to the organization
Interacts with other internal departments (i.e., Quality, Operations, Technical Services, and/or Marketing) to generate innovative custom products and applications data.
Complies with all company safety, training, and quality regulations (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.) and procedures.
Performs duties with guidance from manager, may be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Be able to work flexible hours, and to travel domestic and overseas, maximum 10% of the time.
Sufficient degree of Biological Sciences, Bio-engineering, Bioprocess Engineering or a related
discipline, or the equivalent knowledge, Master plus ≥ 4 years or Ph. D. degree with 2 years experience in mammalian cell culture process development.
Should have experience in bioreactor operation experience and regulatory affairs of at least one IND project.
Good oral and written communication skills, both in English and Mandarin.
Must exhibit good interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills to
communicate scientific results in a clear, concise, & accurate manner.
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems of moderate scope. Proved creativity in
selecting approaches and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Willing to establish the new technology platform and learn more about upstream process
development skills besides cell line development.
Proven fast learner on new technology / knowledge / process. Be thoughtful and eager to
Preferred Qualifications: (optional)
Working experience in similar Customer Experience/Excellent Center or CRO/CDMO is preferred.
Experience in managing external scientific collaborations, CRO or CDMO is preferred.
Having experience in developing perfusion-based bioreactor processes at bench scale or media development is preferred.
