Position Overview:

The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for leading all Sales and Marketing initiatives at the property. Provide guidance, leadership and direction supervision to Sales, Marketing and Catering team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Executive Committee member representing sales and marketing
  • Maintains complete competitive hotel/market updates to include new supply and ongoing analysis.
  • Maintains and updates rolling market demand and STR performance analysis
  • Efficiently manages mix of sales to budget and growth to previous year
  • Tracks and manages geographic and channel booking sources
  • Reports on Hotelligence Report trends, market share movement and key account opportunities
  • Leads yield and pricing strategy by key segment in concert with Revenue Manager
  • Leads rooms forecasting process, management and accuracy
  • Leads hotel market share strategy and direction
  • Manages and leads sales deployment and personnel
  • Tracks, measures and manages sales production toward goal
  • Manages sales activity and travel plans
  • Reports on group and transient booking pace/position
  • Leads key account management and segment assignment
  • Develop and leads brand regional sales and 3rd party sales representation plans for the hotel
  • Leads overall marketing communications plan and management to include: advertising, ecommerce and public relations
  • Manages sales and marketing budget
  • Leads overall hotel business plan development
  • Greets guest in a friendly and courteous manner during all interactions
  • Handles all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism
  • Abides by the policies and procedures as set out in the Associate Handbook and any other applicable policies
  • Must adhere to the appearance and grooming policy
  • Performs other duties/tasks and projects as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to motivate and develop the best sales and marketing team in the market
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate markets
  • A clear understanding and evidence of formal training and application of revenue management techniques
  • Knowledge of airlines and other potential marketing and distribution partners.
  • Outstanding selling and negotiation skills
  • Impeccable, intelligent and clear presentation and business communication skills
  • Comprehensive computer skills and computer literacy
  • High flexibility and ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient in English both written and verbal. Proficiency in other languages would be an asset
  • Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, as required

Education and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management or related Sales and Marketing field
  • Minimum 10 years working experience in the luxury hotel industry; international and opening experiences preferred
  • Previous experience is essential in similar role, must have been a Director of Sales and Marketing for a minimum of 3 years with a proven track records of results
  • Knowledge of and experience in the Vancouver market or other like city preferred
