We have an opportunity for the right leader to join US Bank and lead our Real Estate Credit Approval organization as our Executive Credit Officer. This role will be responsible for the Commercial Real Estate Division, the Community Development Corporation and the Housing Capital Company making up a $70B portfolio. This executive will lead the Credit Risk Management program across all three portfolios and report to the bank's Chief Credit Officer.

This role will give someone the opportunity to lead a strong team of Credit Officers who are responsible for independently adjudicating multi-million-dollar loans to real estate developers and investors, including large construction loans, syndicated loans as agent bank and unsecured loans to REITS and funds.

This person is also a key leader in establishing and implementing credit policy, guidance and process ensuring compliance with the risk appetite of the firm. They will interface regularly with the Chief Credit Officer, Executive Management, regulators, business line partners and clients.

  • Demonstrated skills in partnering and relationship building across business lines

  • Strong judgment skills as well as analytical and structuring skills in relation to evaluating regional and national commercial real estate client and project cash flow, valuation and risk

  • Expert knowledge of credit policies, credit analysis, credit approval procedures and philosophy

  • Demonstrated analytical and risk analysis skills

  • Advanced knowledge of organization, business practices, business philosophy, and ethics


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with an emphasis in accounting, finance and/or real estate
  • 15 or more years of experience in credit analysis, structuring and portfolio risk management
  • 10 or more years in a credit approval and risk management role for commercial real estate
