UDR, Inc. is now hiring an IT Software Quality Assurance Analyst II to join our team at our corporate office in Highlands Ranch.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  A QA analyst is responsible for the testing phase of the software development process to ensure that final products meet the expectations of the product per requirements and company procedures.  Duties include identifying whether products are functional, reliable and meet the end user's expectations.

The analyst will work collaboratively with business analysts, product owners, project managers, and outside vendors (when needed) to understand the software feature and how it relates to the company's business problems and opportunities.  With this context in mind, the analyst will both plan and execute test cases to ensure the software achieves the desired goals, both immediate and strategic.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports to the Sr. Manager – IT Business Systems



Level I:

  1. Interface with business analysts, product owners or stakeholders to understand the product feature and the individual stories/requirements involved.
  2. Ensure that the feature can be tested and identify the procedure for each. Provide a specification for any data required to create necessary scenarios.
  3. Log evidence of successful tests and provide any supporting documentation as applicable to the story/requirement.
  4. Create bugs when necessary, identifying the steps, expected behavior, observed behavior and any supporting documentation.
  5. Be able to explain any issues found to the project team (including developers, scrum masters and/or project managers), both in summary and detailed forms (depending on the needed level of detail).
  6. Exhibit strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking skills with good attention to detail.
  7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the project team, utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
  9. While not a requirement, a working understanding of SQL and API development is a plus.

Level II: (Provides all functions noted above, plus the following)

  1. Demonstrate that more complex tasks have been mastered and less direction from senior team members and management is needed.
  2. Participate in feature and epic planning reviews, giving feedback on requirements and acceptance criteria.
  3. Create testing plans for features and epics, anticipating scenarios and developing strategies appropriate to the feature addition.
  4. Pull and analyze data from supporting platforms in order to create necessary test scenarios and present the data in a usable format.
  5. Plan and execute test plans against multiple features at a time, balancing time according to business and project priorities.
  6. Identify roadblocks, issues or challenges that arise during the project, and works with the project team to remediate and resolve those issues and challenges.
  7. Identify key testing scenarios that contribute to regression test planning and successful software releases.
  8. Contribute towards automation efforts for process improvements.


  • Demonstrated ability to proactively prioritize needs and effectively manage resources.  Must be able to determine whether tasks should be attempted and, if so, identify the most effective way of completing the task, anticipating ways to overcome unexpected difficulties.  Must be skilled in focusing on desired results, determining what is important and urgent, clarifying next steps, and delegating effectively to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.  Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities. 
  • Strong analytical and skills required, including an attention to detail.  Understanding what the product represents in the market, as well as how the individual feature contributes to the product, is key.  Any QA must keep the overall goal in mind as they approach in immediate goals of the project.
  • Ability to write findings and procedure manuals.  Ability to communicate easily with both technical and non-technical users. Ability to effectively present information to management, vendors, and project staff.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.  Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts and requirements. Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve every day and/or complex project issues. 
  • At higher levels, ability to think conceptually and translate concepts into practical solutions and decisions that improve both product and process quality.
  • Knowledge and ability to facilitate meetings and presentations to communicate findings and participate in solution ideation.
  • MS Office skills, especially strong experience with Excel is required. Knowledge of computer systems and applications.  Performs duties that require strong comprehension, analytical, research, composition, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of the operational and procedural aspects of computer systems, hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.  Ideally, the candidate has a working understanding of database structure and data retrieval.  This would be translated into a basic understanding of API development and interface.                                           

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Requires mobility sufficient to travel.  Some bending, stooping and stretching. Occasionally lifting items weighing up to 30 lbs.  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.  Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Extensive data input and required ability to sit for long periods of time. Regular and consistent attendance on the job is an essential function.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. 


Level I:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Technology Management, Business Administration, or related discipline is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  2. Minimum of one year of related experience is required.
  3. Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall environments is preferred.
  4. Excellent experience with MS Office skills, especially Excel.
  5. Fundamental understanding of SQL databases.
  6. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license unless otherwise noted.

Level II:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Technology Management, Business Administration, or related discipline is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  2. Minimum of three years of related experience is required.
  3. Prior experience within the real estate or hospitality industry is preferred, or equivalent combination of experience within industry and emerging technologies.
  4. Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall environments is required.
  5. Provides guidance and support to other team members.
  6. Excellent experience with MS Office skills, especially Excel.
  7. Fundamental understanding of SQL databases and API development.
  8. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license unless otherwise noted.
