The Impact You Can Have:

 

This role plays a pivotal role in shaping and leading Ulta Beauty's Strategic Portfolio Delivery Office. This role is responsible for driving coordinated execution of the most critical enterprise initiatives, to deliver on Ulta Beauty's strategic and financial objectives, working in partnership with the Senior Director, SPD team, senior leadership and key cross-functional stakeholders.

 

The Director Strategic Value Delivery must demonstrate a critical blend of both strong strategic management and cross-functional leadership capabilities and a strong track record of successful execution of complex enterprise initiatives in a retail environment. The ability to influence, advise and manage a large number of cross-functional players across levels is critical.

 

PRINCIPLE JOB DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Form the Strategic Portfolio Delivery Office with the Senior Director, including establishing the vision, building the team, and creating the operating model and ongoing enterprise approach.
  • Sit on Corporate Strategy leadership team and work in partnership with Corporate Strategy to develop, execute and track an integrated ‘roadmap' of enterprise initiatives to achieve strategic and annual plans. Manage and support periodic updates with senior leadership team
  • Architect development of project management and change management capabilities and center of excellence at Ulta Beauty, including contributing and demonstrating best practice approaches, project governance frameworks and processes and toolkits which will be applied throughout the organization.
  • Drive, lead and facilitate ongoing prioritization across Ulta Beauty's portfolio initiatives, working with senior leadership, providing transparency to ensure that the right projects are moving forward and are held accountable to deliver business value.
  • Proactively shape, drive and deliver large scale, highly complex enterprise initiatives, serving as a strategic and executional partner and advisor to business owners and senior leadership.
  • Lead a large, cross-functional team by employing strategic execution, program management, integration and change management in support of strategic programs across the company.
  • Oversee and facilitate cross-functional teams in defining and tracking project goals, deliverables, milestones, resources, budget and schedule.
  • Identify and manage critical interdependencies, determine, monitor, elevate and help to mitigate areas of risk
  • Provide strategic and executional leadership to successfully deliver projects.
  • Own prioritization of workstreams and set and measure metrics to track progress against objectives.
  • Provide timely communications to senior management and key stakeholders on overall status and roadmap for key strategic programs.
  • Lead change management efforts at Ulta Beauty on critical complex programs and initiatives, designing and executing change strategies within and across key enterprise initiatives.

 

 

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

 

Qualified candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred and a minimum of 8+ years of experience in project management, change management and project planning and/or post-merger integration, preferably in a strategy consulting company or equivalent position in beauty and/or a retail environment.

 

  • Experience in strategic / management consulting strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams to execute highly complex initiatives of significant scope, scale and risk in a retail environment.
  • Looked to as a trusted, capable leader able to drive a program independently, engaging senior leadership at the right level at the right time
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program management, change management and strategic capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analysis and apply strategic frameworks to drive alignment and decision-making.
  • Financial acumen to shape and drive program performance management
  • Highly collaborative with track record of effective cross-functional leadership and proven ability to influence at all levels, from working teams to senior leadership
