Position Summary:

The incumbent acts as both a functional and technical leader in the development, upgrade, enhancement and support of department systems. Incumbent plays an ongoing key role in the development and maintenance of hospital coding databases and systems which enhance automation and provide key performance indicators for leadership to make operational decisions. Facilitates decisions and work efforts which affect applications and patient care practices.

Salary Range:

Rate Minimum $61,100.00 Maximum $125,000.00

Required Qualifications:

Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Ability to function as a project leader and project member

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to self initiate and effectively problem solve issues

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends

Demonstrated experience using / implementing Coding, Administrative or Clinical Care Systems (examples: Allscripts/Eclipsys Sunrise Record Manager-HIM and/or Allscripts/Eclipsys SCM and/or 3M coding products)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience in development/ implementation/ integration and support of an EMR systems legal medical record

Experience within a healthcare professional or administrative department and/or knowledge of healthcare clinical practices and interface standards

Knowledge of system architecture and file structures for development, maintenance and enhancement tasks for system maintained

Knowledge of ICD-9 CM and CPT coding

Minimum 5 years of acute multi-specialty hospital coding experience

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Strong aptitude in applying Allscripts/Eclipsys Sunrise Record Manager-HIM and other vendor-specific knowledge regarding coding conventions, report generation and system maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Allscripts Sunrise Record Manager (SRM), Sunrise Clinical Manager, 3M Encoder-Softmed, Spheris and related HIM department systems

Experience working in a HIM department

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Project Coordination / management experience
