Financial Aid Advisor - VA Certifying Official
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, serves as coordinator of the VA Educational Benefits and DoD Tuition Assistance programs and a Financial Aid Advisor. Performs tasks at the operational level in all areas of financial aid administration including certification of benefits, need analysis, and revisions to benefit requests/financial aid and reporting. Exercises professional judgment to make necessary adjustments when standard need analysis methodology is inappropriate. Advises students and parents regarding the federal and state benefit application and approval process, benefit eligibility criteria, and academic satisfactory progress requirements. Conducts workshops and gives presentations to various campus and community organizations.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
Minimum of one year financial aid administrative experience. Fundamental knowledge of federal aid programs and need analysis (federal methodology). Strong interpersonal and written skills. Familiarity with automated information management systems preferred. Be adaptable, able to work efficiently with multiple deadlines and schedules.Desirable Requirements
Experience working with veterans a plus.Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of years of experience.
