Position Summary:

 

The Department of Medicine is comprised of 11 Divisions by Medicine Subspecialty. The post award team in the Finance unit is responsible for management of more than $29 million in contracts, grants, and research funding. This centralized unit provides expertise and financial management for contracts, grants, and university allocations for research. The PI's laboratory focuses on studying intestinal absorption of vitamins and their transport into other tissues in health and disease. His studies are funded by the NIH and the Department of the Veterans Affairs.

 

Under supervision from Principal Investigator, the lab technician conducts a limited variety of duties pertaining to basic cell culture and molecular work and some laboratory upkeep. Duties will also include repetitive tasks such as preparing buffers and solutions; cell growth stock preparation, antibody staining, DNA extraction, PCR and record keeping as well as ordering and maintaining lab supplies.

 

Compensation Range:

 

$17.85- $18.53

Required:

 

Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Acknowledges abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Experience in basic cellular and molecular biology techniques. Ability to read, write, and converse. Ability to follow instructions and work well with others or alone under moderate supervision. Basic computer skills. Organizational skills for record keeping and data analysis.
