Uses proactive, detail-oriented approach to oversee and support a variety of operational and administrative efforts for the Energy & Sustainability Unit. Evaluates and resolves a variety of assignments of moderate scope, including, as UCOP Sustainability Lead, data reporting of UCOP facilities' sustainable transportation, water, zero waste and carbon emissions metrics, along with implementing projects to support UC policy. Ensures office operations, system-wide stakeholder meetings, administrative support processes and other events for the department run smoothly. Requests feedback from staff and campus clients to identify and implement new actions to improve department effectiveness. Demonstrates good judgment to independently select the means and methods to accomplish work and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Oversees and ensures daily administrative operations run smoothly and office resources are available for Energy & Sustainability staff to complete their tasks. Monitors the daily activities in the department and seeks out opportunities to provide assistance. Assistance may include elements of the following functions: travel planning, conference and training registration, expense report completion, meeting scheduling, invoice handling, supply ordering, check receipt processing, and special projects as needed.
Coordinates internal sustainability for UCOP facilities by implementing projects outlined in the Zero Waste Action Plan and Water Action Plan. Internal sustainability responsibilities includes supporting UCOP's Sustainability Affinity Group.
Provides support for system-wide energy and sustainability data gathering and reporting, in addition to responsibility for UCOP facilities' reporting of sustainable transportation, water, zero waste and carbon emissions metrics.
Acts as central point for coordination of event planning and stakeholder communication for system-wide Energy & Sustainability events, including the UC Global Climate Leadership Council and Sustainability Steering Committee.
Supports UCOP's Clean Power Program by assisting in monthly billing activities and annual direct access account records updates.
Travels to meeting locations in order to provide logistical support as part of event planning team.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff verbally and in writing.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in order to meet demanding timeframes.
- Advanced proficiency in data management and reporting using standard business software, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Familiarity with University processes, protocols and procedures, such as the UC Travel Policy and UC Procurement Policy.
- Knowledge of common organization-specific goals and initiatives such as the Carbon Neutrality Initiative.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary: $62,000 - 75,000
