Overview

The University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health System is seeking a Breast Surgical Oncologist to join their multidisciplinary, comprehensive Breast Program in Bel Air, Maryland.  The Kaufman Cancer Center is an affiliate of the Greenebaum Cancer Center (a NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center) at the University of Maryland Medical Center.  The Kaufman Cancer Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and its service offerings include medical oncology, cancer surgery, radiation oncology, infusion services, genetic counseling, palliative care, comprehensive support services, and integrative health services. 

This full-time position is designed for a fellowship-trained breast surgeon whose goal is to assist in furthering the development of clinical, quality improvement, and clinical research programs in breast surgical oncology in a sophisticated, state of the art community setting. Collaboration with imaging, oncology, and integrative health providers and supportive care services staff (nurse navigators, registry, research team etc.) and development and maintenance of strong referral relationships with community providers expected.

This role will require significant interaction with a multidisciplinary team of individuals, including breast medical and radiation oncology providers of within the Kaufman Cancer Center.  Metrics for success will include clinical program development as well as clinical trials accrual in the field of breast surgery and oncology. 

The Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center is an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center ranked among the top cancer programs in the United States.  The Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center has a robust basic and clinical research effort in breast cancer and was responsible for the development of aromatase inhibitors, now in worldwide use. The University of Maryland Cancer Network is the state-wide cancer network of the University of Maryland Medical System that cares for more than one in four of the 24,000 Marylanders diagnosed with cancer each year.
