The Application Development Manager leads and manages development of retail technology solutions that enables The UPS Store franchisees to successfully fulfill their customers' needs. This position works with Product Owners and Business Sponsors to help develop their vision, and this position leads applications development team members to bring the vision into a reality as a software solution. He/She collaborates and problem-solves with cross-functional team members on interesting challenges in a retail franchise environment.

The Application Development Manager develops software using Microsoft.Net, C#, ASP.Net, HTML, JavaScript, IIS, MS SQL Server (i.e., database design, SQL/T-SQL, and stored procedures), and WinForms/WPF. This position utilizes object oriented, n-tier, and Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) design patterns. The Application Development Manager uses Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Team Foundation Server, and web service technology such as Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Representational State Transfer (REST), bindings, etc. Experience with mobile development using Xamarin is desired.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Applies project management skills to keep project team focused on meeting project goals for the Product Owners and Business Sponsors
  • Communicates frequently with senior management to make sure expectations are set correctly at all times
  • Manages changes to projects with Product Owners and Business Sponsors, so that they are able to make timely adjustment for stakeholders
  • Envisions solutions based on industry trends, develop roadmaps to support vision, and lead project team members to deliver on the roadmap
  • Coaches and mentors application development team members, so that they continually deliver high quality with their solutions

  • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle

  • Experience with mobile application development using Xamarin - Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Software Engineering or related field - Preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Platform as a service - Preferred
