Job Summary: AES processing of US export. Must possess general knowledge of U.S. Export Controls as governed by CBP, US Census, and the various other Participating Agencies who regulate US Exports. The following systems will be used: AES Direct, IDC, eTT, OPSYS, IDIS, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), e-mail, RightFax and Intra/Internet (SharePoint), and would expect an above basic to intermediate level of knowledge to be successful. This position works on holidays.
Job Description: Direct contact with shippers to obtain essential information needed for customs clearance. Working directly with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to obtain release of shipment. Secure pertinent details on exporting commodities from U.S. shippers via telephone and e-mail communications. Possess thorough knowledge of U.S. exporting requirements and the ability to gain this information by using extensive resources available. Make mathematical calculations and ensure proper questions are posed to the shipper regarding origins, functions, values, party to the transaction and the end use of goods being exported. Establish contacts with frequent exporters. Prioritize work to meet port specific deadlines and to prevent fines and penalties. File export shipments that are being held for missing information. Review of completed entries for accuracy will also be an expected task, this will include entries from across the Brokerage Network.
Required Skills: Must have 3 months Rating experience or Export Experience. Must possess excellent written/oral communication skills. Ability to work in a close team setting. Must possess exceptional analytical skills. Good with numbers and problem resolution. Must have excellent organizational skills and be capable of handling multiple tasks throughout the day. Self-starter highly motivated career oriented. Able to work within tight time constraints and handle stressful situations. Maximum of 4 concerns within a 6 month period. Candidate must have effective Performance Appraisal score which includes effective in production and accuracy.
Additional Skills: Formal Rating or Export Holds experience is preferred.
Work Environment: The brokerage is a business office with more than 500 employees who work multiple shifts. It is a 24x7 operation. Staffing consists of both full and part time employees. Brokerage is responsible for clearing international shipments that are entering or exiting the United States through the respective U.S. Government agencies. Dress code is standard UPS Flex Business Attire (denim permitted). Candidate for this position will be working in a group of approximately 20 employees.
