The University of Texas at Dallas has an excellent job opportunity for individuals looking to join our team as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Neuroscience department for the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences (BBS).

A postdoctoral associate is sought with experience in optogenetics and/or electrophysiological recordings in freely moving rodents. This postdoc will join the Thorn and McIntyre labs to explore brain substrates of memory and the extinction of conditioned fear.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D in a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or MD degree.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The NIH-funded postdoctoral associate will carry out research investigating the mechanisms by which vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) enhances extinction of conditioned fear in rodents. This is a unique opportunity to do translational research and merge technologies across two labs: Dr. Catherine Thorn's lab uses multisite recordings in behaving animals to study neural firing patterns and synchrony across brain regions, and Dr. Christa McIntyre's lab uses optogenetic approaches to investigate the circuitry involved in memory and extinction of conditioned fear.

As a member of the Department of Neuroscience at UT Dallas, affiliations are possible with the Texas Biomedical Device Center, the Center for Advanced Pain Studies, The Callier Center for Communication Disorders, The Center for Vital Longevity, and The Center for Brain Health.

Work will be performed onsite and in-person.
