  • How you will contribute

    Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Coatings Inspector position- 2nd shift in the Global Coatings Division - Steele, Alabama location. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will inspect and finish galvanized materials to ensure the result of high quality parts and products. This is an entry level inspector position that will inspect for irregularities in coatings; non-coated areas, icicles, drips, zinc build-up, ash or other foreign matter on the freshly galvanized or coated products. Tests coating thickness of product with properly calibrated thickness gauge and records on form. Inspects galvanized or coated products using fixed and variable measuring instruments.

    Additionally, you will…

    • Complete a pre-inspection of materials to ensure high quality
    • Conduct some touch up/repair and flag poles for completion
    • Complete paperwork as needed
    • Train employees in proper repair and touch up
    • Assist in training employees on metalizing
    • Ability to convey issues to Crew lead and/or Supervisor
    • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations
    • Maintain a safe and productive working environment
    • Work in a team environment to accomplish safety and production goals

    • Must be able to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions 
    • Must be able to communicate and work well with others 
    • Must be flexible to work extended hours including nights and weekends when necessary 
    • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
    • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to deliver exceptional results

    Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • Two years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment
    • One year of previous experience in a quality control or related position
    • One year of previous experience with operating hand and/or power tools
    • Must have be able to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
