Systems Engineer Role Summary This role will contribute to a range of cutting-edge connected vehicle big data initiatives which are helping define the future of automotive products and services for the Volkswagen Group. Product domains impacted by this role include autonomous driving, predictive services, digital assistants, personalization, and more. Working with highly-technical teams, this role will provide the glue between advanced software development and applications of the systems being built. This can range from extending in-vehicle capabilities through to development of enabling software modules, affecting both individual-user and fleet-level mobility features. Role Responsibilities

  • Understand the market specific use-cases for data-driven functions, derive high-level system requirements, break-down to deeper technical requirements and develop validation methodologies for function release
  • Evaluate technologies and approaches that can contribute to the range of data-driven connected vehicle projects, selecting viable 3rd party technologies or advocating for innovations from within the Volkswagen Group
  • Using advanced knowledge of connected vehicle technologies and proprietary cloud data management systems, ensure that end-to-end systems function properly, at times developing key modules that complete a PoCs and prototypes
  • Proactively provide regular status updates at various levels of technical granularity to the management


Requirements

Qualifications Years of Experience
  • 5+ years of experience
Education Required
  • B.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent education). Masters or Ph.D preferred.

  • Experience working on projects involving integration of E2E Systems: vehicle, backend, and frontend
  • Change management experience
  • Issue and risk management
  • Prior experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of automotive infotainment/connected car products and services
Desired Skills
  • Comfortable with software development using languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, etc.
  • Familiarity with relational and No-SQL-style database technologies
  • Understanding of cloud-based technologies and communication protocols (MQTT, HTTP)
  • German language skills
  • Passion for cars and automotive technologies
