Job Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Associate 3 triages and processes advanced specimens in the diagnostic specialized chemistry, specialized coagulation, esoteric, and toxicology laboratories. Works closely with all laboratory staff, medical staff, and external customers including advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution. Additional responsibilities include packing and shipping of laboratory specimens to be sent out to referring laboratories.

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Receives and triages advanced specimens.
  • Prepares specimens and patient materials for shipping.
  • Provides advanced clerical support and customer service.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:

PATHOLOGY (INTERMEDIATE):- Demonstrates mastery of pathology in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.

LABORATORY PRACTICES (NOVICE):- Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate laboratory practices in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments. 

SPECIMEN COLLECTION - (INTERMEDIATE):- Demonstrates mastery of specimen collection in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering specimen collection services without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving technical instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job. 

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE - (NOVICE):- Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to maintain equipment, products, or systems in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Assures that parts inventory is sufficient.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED and 2 years relevant experience
Desired:
  • Diagnostic laboratory exposure with high volume automated specimen handling systems, as part of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of human specimens
  • Attention to detail, ability to work well under pressure with tight turnaround times, and ability to adapt in a diverse, team-based culture
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy collaborative customer service tactics in a effective manner that generates resolution and overcomes challenges with teammates, internal, and external customers; while maintaining harmony
  • Minimum of 2 years diagnostic laboratory experience with high volume specimen receiving, handling, accessioning, and processing
