Role Summary:

The Data Governance Analyst is a key member of the information security team who works collaboratively with business and IT stakeholders to understand how data is stored, processed, and transmitted internally and externally. The role is to assist the data governance team in the formation and execution of data governance framework, policy, standards. The Data Governance Analyst assists in the operational management and BAU processes of the Data Leakage/Loss Prevention (DLP) security and systems management tool. The person in this role will have strong business/systems analysis skills and be able to understand and articulate the business purposes for data handling and the systems and technology components involved in that handling. They will also be responsible for maintaining all the tools used to monitor, control, and classify data across electronic storage locations, databases, and on-premise & third-party hosted systems. This role will interact frequently with Legal and Business leadership to certify compliance with data classification and handling policies and procedures.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Create various documents such as data and process flow diagrams, process narratives focusing on data handling and related technology components supporting those processes.
  • Proactively identify and develop solutions to data security issues by working across tech teams
  • Effectively communicate information security compliance status and progress to stakeholders
  • Foster strong relationships with IT leadership and business process owners
  • Work closely with security operations in the identification, escalation, and resolution of all data security related incidents
  • Action remediation and fulfil support activities for DLP endpoint, discovery, and prevention
  • Assist personnel in identifying data leakage such as but not limited to Personally Identifiable Information (PII), confidential, or restricted organization communications
  • Provide recommendations and implement changes to minimize impact to the end-users while providing required DLP protection in the client's environment


Experience: Required
  • 5-7 years of experience
Education: Required
  • B.S. in Information Technology, Computer Science (or related field)
  • Advanced Degree a plus
