Role Summary:

The Manager of Systems and Cloud Engineering is responsible for the strategy, design, implementation and operational support of all compute, storage and backup platforms.  This includes all on premise and Public cloud options.  This team also includes the Cloud teams which supports the DevOps development team, providing operational resources, guidelines and overall strategy for the DevOps process. This role will support the budgets, purchasing and forecasting for these services.  Manages activities related to keeping the infrastructure performing optimally including backing up the systems, performance tuning, installing operating system upgrades and patches, implementing security and virus protection and providing 24-hour monitoring and support.

  Role Responsibilities:
  • Manage Personnel– 45%
    • Supervise the engineers both FTE and contractors
    • Coach, develop and inspire team members on their personal and professional development plan
    • Prioritize work for individuals on the team
    • Oversee a team that supports the day to day operations of the Virtualization, Linux, Windows and Enterprise Storage services
  • Financial responsibilities – 25%
    • Hardware and software purchases to support your teams
    • Budget responsibilities including forecasting
  • Research and development – 15%
    • Deep dive new technologies to create roadmaps for the next 1 to 5 years
    • Work with Senior Management to define long term architecture strategies, aligning services, and mapping strategies to enterprise roadmap
  • Other – 15%          
    • Collaborate with peers across teams including Application Support, Database administration, Development, Enterprise Architecture and IT PMO on project delivery requirements
    • Execute on initiatives from security audits
    • Security and vulnerability patch management and support.


Requirements

Experience: Required
  • Minimum of 10 years Information Technology experience
Education: Required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
Desired
  • MBA or M.S. degree

Specialized Skills: Required
  • At least 7 years' experience managing a team of systems and or cloud engineers
  • Previous experience developing AWS strategies
  • Expert knowledge of virtualization technology
  • Ability to collaborate with Development teams on prioritization and enablement
  • Deep understanding of IT Service Management process including Incident, Problem and Change Management
  • Experience in IT infrastructure procurement, implementation, and migration
  • Maturity in understanding production environments, including off hours support and test environments
  • Previous experience managing the Operational costs of all system and cloud components
  • Experience implement Operational Cost savings initiatives
  • Understanding of DevOps processes and tools
  • Experience / familiarity with basic related technologies such as networking, relational databases (Oracle, MariaDB, SQL Server), client-server architecture
  • Experience Managing IT budgets, forecasting, and purchasing
  • Related practical business and technical experience
  • Familiarity with Disaster Recovery and High Availability Concepts
  • In depth knowledge of Enterprise Storage or Enterprise Backup Solutions
  • Experience with Security Audits and fulfilling security requirements
  • Operating System hardening depth
  • Ability to manage in an agile method as well as waterfall method depending on the project supporting
Desired
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code
  • Automotive leasing/retail or financial business exposure
  • AWS or other cloud experience
  • Experience working with global peers
  • Experience in Agile – specifically SAFe
Work Flexibility:
  • Travel 10%
  • Rotational on call responsibilities
