Wilson Health is looking for a direct hire Float Pool Patient Care Technician/Health Unit Coordinator – Night Shift for our location in Sidney, Ohio (North Dayton, Ohio) area.

Position Reports to:  Director of Nursing

Department Description: Wilson Health's Float Pool is a department that enables our Patient Care  Technician/Health Unit Coordinator to work in either Acute Care, Critical Care, or Emergency Department to assist the hospital with unit staffing needs.

Job Summary: The Float Pool Patient Care Technician/Health Unit Coordinator (PCT/HUC) role combines the essential roles of the PCT and HUC into one role that will function based upon operational needs. The PCT is a multi-skilled individual able to perform technical and clinical tasks/procedures under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and delegated in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing. The HUC is pivotal in the overall function of the unit including registration, coordinating communication and data entry. Provides clerical assistance to physicians and staff. Provides direction and guidance to patients, families and visitors while promoting a positive patient experience. Tasks are performed under the oversight of the RN in coordination with other team members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: PCT:
  • Under the direction of the RN, assists in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient on his / her assigned unit.
  • Completes assigned treatments and procedures, under the direction of the Registered Nurse (Phlebotomy, EKG, etc).
  • Provides care based on ethical concepts, respect for life dignity, human worth and the individuality of human beings.
HUC ED only:
  • Registers and interviews patient and patient's representative to obtain and record name, address, age, religion, persons to notify in case of emergency, attending Physician, and individual or insurance company responsible for payment of bill and other demographic/financial information deemed necessary to complete patient record.
  • Obtains necessary signatures of consent from patient and explains patient rights to the patient.
  • Prepares ID bracelets and places the band on the Emergency patient.
  • Reviews facesheet for correct information.  Monitors completion and disposition of all Emergency Records for each visit. Scans forms and distributes forms to appropriate departments.
  • Maintains files, keeps insurance data, and forms current.
  • Executes faxing of patient records when requested.   Maintains patient confidentiality, and follow policies and procedures in the release of medical information.  
  • Performs patient related clerical duties necessary to assist health care team as they provide care to patients.
  Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Successfully completed an approved nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program or three to six months related hospital experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Certification in BLS is required before end of orientation period.
