Summary

A Labs/K Series Operator sets up and performs a variety of operations in a manufacturing environment. Equipment utilized will include basic manufacturing hand tools, material handling equipment such as fork trucks and overhead cranes. The Labs/KS Operator is responsible primarily for the final assembly and packaging of product including the application of decals, labels, cardboard boxes and packaging material.

This role generates up to 4 packaged units per day. The Labs/KS Operator will be moved into different manufacturing work cells to learn various stages of manufacturing related to the production of different products.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner
  • Ability to work in a team environment focusing on meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost standards
  • Able to learn to operate Insulating Wrap machines
  • Able to scan or enter quality data into JDE.
  • Able to apply decals to product
  • Assist others as needed
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Complete paperwork as required
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or team lead
  • Perform all duties in the spirit of Our Philosophy and in accordance to legal, ethical and contractual practices
Desired Experience
  • Ability to lead by example, coach and train
  • Can read productions and log required documentation accurately
  • Above average knowledge of machine process and steel defects
  • Ability to write accurate reject reports
  • Basic writing and math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to read a tape measure and blueprints
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and short correspondence
  • Ability to read all measuring devices
  • Fully understands safety training and procedures manuals
  • Ability to perform all required quality checks and surface inspection of material
  • Frequently is required to stand and sit
  • Occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to see small detail, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Forklift and crane license
  • Safety training and procedures manuals
  • Required OSHA safety training
  • May require First Responder Training (1st Aid and CPR)
  • 1-2 years previous manufacturing experience
  • Previous painting experience
Education High School Diploma or equivalent
