Job Description
The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, services or repairs simple instruments or equipment
- Conducts a variety of tests using established methods, prepares test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment, records test data, and points out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors
- Assembles components and sub-assemblies following wire prints, schematics and verbal instruction
- Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other and uses hand or power tools to secure parts in place
- Mounts assembled components on chassis, panel or circuit board
- Routes wiring and cabling through assembly to terminals according to color codes and solders or wraps wire around terminals to provide electrical connection
- Performs intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, cleaning, coating, epoxy bonding, wiring, stamping, etching and color coding parts and assemblies
- Assists in mounting equipment in cabinets or on shelves in vans, ships and test beds
- Prepares assembly kits from detailed, itemized parts listing including the counting, marking, and verification of parts associated with each kit
- Uses visual aids, drawings, verbal and written instructions to prepare automatic and manual production machinery and equipment to produce small coils and other parts to conform to specifications
- Operates small lathes, drills, extruding machinery and similar equipment to produce specialized metal parts required for components and sub-assemblies
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Must be willing to travel for a few weeks at a time throughout the year.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma and at least one year of related experience
Ability to travel up to 25%
Ability to pass BAE Systems solder certification training

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Ability to use various power tools including drills, drill presses, core drills, saws, equipment to pull cable, vacuums, an assortment of wire cutters and strippers, soldering irons, high-press tools, voltage meters, ammeters and ohmmeters
Ability to use Microsoft Office, Visio, Excel and Word
Ability to read and interpret drawings/blue prints and perform work to specifications

Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
