POSITION NOTE Position will be assigned to the Litigation Division.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the First Assistant Parish Attorney, a Senior Special Assistant Parish Attorney, division head or section chief represents the City-Parish in all phases of civil or criminal litigation. Work may involve rendering professional legal advice to City-Parish department heads and officials. Work is performed with considerable independence and is periodically reviewed through conferences on major legal issues confronting the City-Parish. Performs other work as requested. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Juris Doctorate degree, supplemented by five years of responsible work experience in the Parish Attorney's Office or ten years of general legal experience.

SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS
(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.) Admission to the State Bar.
